The European Commission has become a global leader in setting policy for the integration of the gender dimension into research and innovation content. In Horizon Europe, it is one of the gender quality objectives, and it will be accompanied by additional provisions to foster gender equality in public research organizations across the EU. Gender diversity is commonly understood to refer only to the gender composition of research teams, but it has the potential to drive scientific discovery and innovation. Here, we distinguish three approaches to gender diversity: diversity in research teams, research methods, and research questions. The Łukasiewicz Center started work on the development of the Gender Equality Plan (GEP).
